Support Groups
Our Support Groups

Patient support group meetings are a combination of education, emotional and spiritual support. We discuss many topics which include exercise, lifestyle changes, nutrition and emotional eating to name a few.  It is also an excellent opportunity to meet others and develop a support network that you can utilize outside of the meetings.

Review of patient experiences and medical evidence after bariatric surgery reveals that patients who attend support group after surgery have a greater success rate in losing weight and improving their health. Establishing a solid aftercare program is essential to your success.

  • Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center support group meets at 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month in the Lower Level meeting rooms
  • "Spring in to Action" is a special six week class for any bariatric surgery patients to attend after surgery. This is offered to help you create your own weight management plan, develop daily exercise activities and implement your own personal health goals. Call 402-219-7000 to register.
  • Please call the Bariatric Coordinator at 402-219-7638 if you have any questions

Congratulations on taking the steps towards a healthier life!

Having weight loss surgery is just the first step. This is the beginning of many changes that will occur in the journey to a new you! Weight loss surgery is a wonderful tool to set us on the path of losing excess weight and improving your health, however how do we deal with the other issues that got us here?

It is our hope for each one of you that you succeed and work with your new TOOL! It is clear that most of us can not do it alone. We want to invite you to the Saint Elizabeth Weight Loss Surgery Support Group. We are all at different stages; however we all have one common goal. We want to stay on track and continue to lose or maintain our weight and improve our health issues. We want to be set free of all the pain our weight has caused us in our lives. We want to examine our behaviors, thinking, and relationship with food in the past so we can make changes just for today and the days ahead. We strive for healthy progress!

Saint Elizabeth Bariatric Surgery Team looks forward to being of assistance to you as you progress each day to a healthier you! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us at 402-219-7638 or email SHolman@stez.org. We look forward to helping you take steps towards a healthier life.
